Podhajsky - lovely saddle?

Pretty much anything made by Ideal is going to be a nice saddle!

don't know this model myself but I have an Ideal Suzannah and it is utterly brilliant.

Snap I have an Ideal Suzannah and love it to bits.

OP sorry cant get ebay - what model it is?

Lovely saddles for the classical position. The tree is the same as the Jessica NOT the deeper seat of the Suzannah. It also has a closer contact knee pad not the giant Suzannah blocks.Basically, if you like the original Ideal Jessicas then you are likely to love the podhajsky but if you want a "modern" deep seated, giant knee block saddle then you will hate it..

It says [ QUOTE ]
Following a meeting with the then director of The Spanish Riding School and Col. Alois Podhajsky, they designed and built a saddle to which Col. Podhajsky would put his name. The resulting saddle has been used at The Spanish Riding School for training both rider and horse and working saddles have been used in the school for well over 20 years becoming the saddle with a proven history.

So I think the model is Podhajsky. I know it's not cheap, but it does look a lovely saddle. Temptation...

my friend has one on her big moving friesian-her trainer is very classical dressage and wont ride any horse unless using one of these saddles-her basic reasoning behind this is that you can not change your position to help the horse in a deep seated saddle with knee blocks-you are in a fixed position and are driving into their backs. personally i have ridden in it and hated every minute-give me my ideal suzannah everyday!!but like everything its personal preference and the level of your riding

Are you sure you are talking about the same saddle? A Podhajsky? I realised I live close enough to go and have a look at this (now I'm really tempted!). It doesn't have an extreme deep seat. I think it's above my budget for now, but I might look again in the summer when I feel a bit richer!
