My friend's daughter's pony is being pts next week due to cushings related laminitis. I have written this poem for them. I know it would not win a literary prize but what do you think? I just felt it kind of sums him up, he's been such a brave little soul despite being on box rest for months..
You're such a brave pony
You're such a true friend
You've been in good spirits
Right up to the end
Though the nights have been long
And you've suffered the pain
You've always kept going
Despite all the strain
Your cheeky wee face
Looking over the door
No-one would know
That your feet were so sore
You've missed all your pals
You've missed the green grass
But soon, very soon
You'll be with them at last
Running and playing
Where the day never ends
With Daisy and Bracken
And all of their friends.
