Just had my saddle fitted and my horses point of his shoulder is quote far back so when saddle on in correct position behind the point of his shoulder the girth grove is too far forward for a normal girth.

The saddler recommended a Exselle ergonomic curved girth but I can't find them anywhere , anyone else use a good curved girth..??

It's a long girth I need.

Any recommendations greatly welcomed. Thanks

I have that problem with my horse and had one of those curved girths. Spent a fortune on it and didn't make a blind bit of difference. Find a 2nd hand one if you can in case it doesn't work. I have point straps put on my saddles so that the girth straps are as far forward as possible to line up with her forward girth groove.

Thepony, it's for a jumping saddle with short straps so that one won't fit. Only long girth I can find is Cotswold sports onebut it's pretty cheap so I wonder how good the quality would be..???

The saddler said she was reluctant to put point straps on.

I've only had bits from cotssports and have always been pleased with them and the service. Perhaps pm jencots on here if you have questions about the girth?
If you can't find a long one you like then your saddler can easily put long girth straps on your saddle to replace the short ones.

It's the horses shape that's the issue , he has big shoulders and the point of his shoulder is quite far back , no saddle should sit on his shoulder..??? It's just the way he is built. When u put any saddle on him in the correct place behind the point of shoulder the girth grove is then too far forward , a easy problem to solve with a curved girth. It's just finding one with a decent curve on it.

Well....I feel your pain, having a short backed arab with big shoulders:) The shires girth does the trick for me, along with a WH cut saddle.

Just ordered shires one, hopefully it should do the trick, the guy on the phone was a saddler and he said it was one with a lot of curve and they have used it for this same issue on plenty of horses and it worked , so fingers crossed :)
