P to P - they don't have anywhere suitable to hold it, although there was talk of having one it Wortlley Park if they turn it back to grass...

They used to have a TC - first at Factory Farm up by the mast then at Toby Wood Farm in Denby Dale. It was loads of work to build and organise and we never got that many entries - all the southern woosies must be scared of our stone walls! So they gave up in the end..

Any hunt can have a P to P I think. :)

Our local staghounds (Tiverton and Devon and Somerset) both have point to points - weather permitting of course....

Arr - whittington on the hill?? With the scary ditch down in the bottom? Been drunk there a time or two! ;)

I would LOVE it if the Rockwood had a point to point - or a TC again, great fun!

Not at all!! Good for you!

TBH - all the horses I saw round there flew it!

We had a little mare called Robyn who dad trained (years ago, and no, my dad is by no means a trainer!!) and she flew it - didn't even notice the ditch!! I think it's what eventers call a "rider frightener" :)

I do have plenty of people on hand for help and advice, and at the moment the spectators bus (45 seater) is 3/4 full!!!!

Its nothing to do with the jockey but the horse can only go in the members race of the hunt that it qualified with... :)

No, thats just not a full licence, thats what the lady above will be starting off on.

Its the hunt which the horse qualifies with and the horse can only run in that members race. Jockeys with full licences can only run in a set number of members races throughout the country (3 or 4 I think) but the horse can only run in a members race at its 'own' p2p.

I agree with you about the horse only being able to run in it's own members, and jockeys being able to ride in a limited number of members races.
I was just pointing out that if the person in question only intends to ride in her hunts members race she might have paid for just that, which means she can't ride in ANY other races at all, unless she then pays for the full RQC.
I'm not really sure what you're disagreeing with me about?
I know how this works, I've filled out a few of those application forms in recent years myself :)

Well I don't really understand why you were 'correcting' me, I know the rules, I check licences at our p2p but we were originally referring to the horses and not the jockeys. I'm well aware of how licencing works. K9h asked her if she could ride in another members..unless she had another horse qualified with another hunt she couldn't - but you know that anyhow.

Ok, I took the other posts to mean the rider/horse and rider combination taking part in other races. :)
Nevermind, slight misunderstandings do happen, I think we can agree that we both know what we're talking about, we just weren't talking about the same thing!
Also, having just looked at my race planner, you can actually qualify each horse with up to 3 hunts if you want to, but that would be ridiculously expensive, just to be able to run in 3 members races, wouldn't it?

Yes! And a bit pointless really, in my opinion. Mind you down here I can qualify with two for £250.00....bargain  and both hunts p2p courses are within about 10 miles in either direction from my yard :D

How many are you running this season? Are you riding?

Lol, very convenient for you. Mind you, our local track Tabley is only about 2 miles from the yard, and there are 2 meetings there. :)
I've only got one of my own, but I'm also responsible for my bosses 2, so 3 in total. Sadly we lost a lovely young horse last season, I miss him lots, he was very talented as well, and one other is having this season off due to doing a tendon at the end of last season.
I don't know yet if I'll be riding this season, I'm having some "confidence issues" at the moment, if I am it won't be till later on.
How many have you got? Are you gong to Weston next weekend?

2 miles...you could nearly hack there! Combined our two courses run 4 so thats pretty nice for us too. They're keeping you busy then, when does the first run?

I'm not riding, I think you're all bonkers! lol. Ours injured his off hind just after qualifying and has only just come sound so we're deciding whether to give best regarding this season or to run him in the April/early May meetings but he likes it wet...very wet so could be pointless.

Hehe, I've been tempted to do that before, but it would involve crossing a dual carriageway. I have however gone back home to swap horses over between races, so they didn't have to stand on the lorry waiting.
Our first runner will be at Weston Park next weekend, it'll be one of my bosses, as there isn't a race for mine there.
Shame about your horse hurting himself, they always do it at the most inconvenient time, don't they?
How old is he? I always think if they're still young I'd rather give them the season off and know that they're 100% for next season. :)
