Hi!

I am collecting two Welsh B's in July and hoping to start showing them in hand. One is 11 months, the other 4.

I was hoping someone could give me an idea what shows would be good as my first (local to Surrey/Kent). The elder mare has already competed and placed well, the younster has done nothing.

Any other help with regards to turnout for both me and the ponies etc would be helpful!

If you are looking for a nice unaffiliated show in Kent which generally has a high standard of entries then Chequer Tree Farm shows are great experience (not too far from the A21/M25/M20). They also have specific classes for Welsh Bs http://ctf.webeden.co.uk/

Great Chart showing society run regular shows at Blue Barn near Ashford, some unaffiliated classes as well as NPS/PUK classes http://www.greatchartshows.com/calendar-of-events.html

NPS Area 20 (for Kent, Surrey and Sussex) have a summer show at Ardingly but that is in June so before you pick your ponies up, but worth keeping an eye on their website for future events http://www.npsarea20.co.uk/

:) Well I hope your ponies are both registered, Mountain & Moorland (small breed classes) are going to be your main aim, there are both ridden and In hand classes available to you, there are quite a few nice venues down that way, but I would suggest that you take a trip to some of the bigger shows to watch the M&M classes, and to take note of what is required, watch those taking part, note how they turn both themselves and their pony out for the class, showing is alot of fun, so go and enjoy I wish you well:)

Thank you for the replies!

Yes, both girls are registered and well bred. I was hoping to enter some Section B classes as well as Mountain and Moorland. I had heard about the Blue Barn shows but not the others so thanks for that.

I will pop along to some beforehand to look at etiquette etc and what I should wear. I would only be doing inhand at first as neither are backed.

I know it is a long shot but what is the competition like at the Edenbridge and Oxted show in August? Would that be too large a goal.

Thanks!
