We have Pole Pods now, but as Kids we used the 'wheels' our electric fencing cables came on, turned on its side - if that makes sense, and made our own cavalettis by simply hammering two pieces of wood into an X...... Both very very basic but worked well.

Blocks of wood from a timber merchant or DIY place about 10x6x6in, make a deep v shaped cut in them and rest the poles on that. It's what they use at the AQHA world champs for the raised poles in the trail!
We've used polepods, but they the poles knock down so easily that they're a pain to use on your own, and they don't sit very well on deep or unlevel surfaces.
The mini bloks are good if you could club together with a couple of others - they last forever and could be used for all sorts of things.

we use potties as pole pods!! The poles dont roll off and they only cost £1 each and there stackable. Get funny look buying 12 potties at a time though
