In court, Ms Butterfield sobbed as she explained how she had been devastated by the incident on January 22 and had even contemplated suicide.

She said: “It has really affected my confidence. I really just thought I want to throw myself off a train because there’s a fast train that goes from Charing Cross.

“I felt like I had no way out because how could I defend myself in front of police officers?

“I had really got into training Louis and I only let him off the lead after three months. I had watched the Dog Whisperer on TV.

barrister sure knows how to turn on the waterworks. :)

Yup.

Not a good advert for watching the Dog Whisperer to train your dog ?

An interesting article from Peter Mounsey, dog trainer, who believes that the magistrates made the wrong decision. He brings to the discussion the views of Bruce Fogle, vet who may or may not have been the expert witness who thinks that the magistrates made the correct decision and that the riders ie the victims should have chased the dog away.

Absolutely and I’m disappointed in Bruce Fogle

Unfortunately Avon & Somerset police have shared the sad news that Rocky had to be PTS.

Very sad to hear this. RIP Rocky

I have only just seen that one about the dog, and it's a shocking decision by the magistrate. The owner couldn't call the dog back and the dog bit the horse. If that's not dangerously out of control, what is? If they were saying it was under control, they are saying that the owner condoned the attack. Or are they saying that it was out of control but not dangerous - it is obviously dangerous.

Perhaps the emotional blackmail influenced the decision, but it shouldn't have.
