I'm currently horse hunting - have been to see a few now - saw a lovely Irish Draught yesterday but he bucked me off (knew Friday 13th wasn't a good idea!!) was just far too green.

By chance I've found a Polish Warmblood in a very local village to me, he's 9 and is really lovely. He's been out of work since August but I got on and he went round their menage with the wind up his bum and was cool and calm. I didn't do much with him as he is unfit - felt a little unbalanced and reluctant to canter on the right rein - but again put this down to his lack of condition/muscle. I walked him down the road and again nice and calm! According to the owner he was a show jumper in Poland prior to them buying him 2 years ago.

Does anybody know much about this breed? He is quite a lot finer than what I'm used to............are they known for any health problems?

Port (xmas is getting close!) and choccies for reading xx

Why has he been out of work??

I have known one Polish Warmblood but it was very tempremental. I suspect he had foot problems though - he belonged to someone else not me. He was very flashy and looked amazing but had real issues. I think it is not always the breed - more the individual horse. I would not buy a horse who was out of work unless there was a proven reason ie. I knew the horse or completely trusted the seller.

I tried a 5 year old last time I was thinking of changing horses (changed my mind that time) he was really sweet. would buy one if I saw a nice one now
Would worry a horse being out of work as it is so so easy to have a lame horse, leave it a few months then sell it while it is still sound. Have seen this a few times.

I am almost positive I know the horse you went to see

I have a polish warmblood. she is the chestnut in my siggy.

Altho the polish warmblood is not actually a breed(i dont think).
Hari is registered and most of her grand parents etc are either thoroughbreds,Bavarians or hanoverians and with some Trakehner.

Her dad was a Trakehner and her mum a polish warmblood she has a really wierd brand marking.

I have been searching for ages and ages for the right horse and she came along and i would not change her for the world she is very fun but safe i have had her about 4 months now and i can trust her with my heart.

She is a nice build not to heavy but not to fine either.
