I'd like to get a poll guard for my horse for travelling - he tends to throw his head up when stressed. I just bought a horsen trailer this week, and the first time I put him in it, he bashed his head almost immediately :( - he surprised himself so much that he then did it again straight after!!

I've been looking online for a poll guard, but they all seem rather flimsy?
Neoprene, leather, sheepskin....if I was wearing a beanie of those materials and bashed my head against a hard object, I doubt it would offer any protection. I am worrying too much?

I wish they were available in a helmet-like construction (with holes for ears), and a soft cushy lining - to provide proper protection from head impact.

What do all of you use? Which ones would you recommend?

I bought some pipe insulation from B&Q and cut it to size...

It is very dense and tough and I just slot the headcollar strap through it, seems to work quite well.
