I have ridden Western about 3 times and was amazed at how well schooled the horses are! It was amazing, they did everything by moving your weight ever so slightly. I must admit I did enjoy that!
Dont really fancy ever trying side saddle or carriage driving. Just not my thing, although I do appreciate the disiplines and the skill which does into them.
riding side saddle has been a dream of mine since i was a kid ! my mum used to go bad cos i used to sit side saddle on my normal saddle on my pony wen i was lilttle, lookign back it was pretty dangerous but you have no fear when you re that age ! i have a hunter now, wish i could do ladies hunter classes with him but he had back problems when we bought him .....
I haven't got the first clue about any aspects of it BUT i'd love to try it........ it's always appealled to me. The other two don't catch my interest quite as much but 2nd in line would be sidesaddle - looks so elegant.
Id like to drive, can do western but think would get flustered not being on both sides of the horse!
Buckle_Bunny..about your user name, do you really want to be a buckle bunny lol?!
Would love to try driving; the only driving I've done so far is me walking behind long reining youngsters; would be nice to be carried for a change!
Done side saddle in a very muddly way, used to do second horse with one sometimes - I was not elegant - or safe for that matter, good job the hunters knew what they were doing! You wouldn't get away with it now old H & S would be down like a ton of bricks!
Western, I tried it once and felt very peculiar (was working pointers at the time so a drastic change!
) but wouldn't mind another go now as long as the saddles as soft as can be!
Me too. Although only tried sidesaddle once, found it incredibly uncomfortable and really didn't like it which was disapointing as it had been a dream to ride sidesaddle from childhood.
Loved Western (early years in Canada) and driving though.
I've done driving (one pony) and side-saddle but western doesn't interest me at all. I quite fancy doing the side-saddle Concors d'Elegance thing as it looks so gorgeous (bit of poser, really)
