Hi guys. This is the first spring i've had my mare, a couple of weeks ago ( maybe when the sun started shining) she's been coming in from the field with streaming eyes and a drippy nose , the eyes are worse than the nose . She wears a full fly mask but it doesn't seem to make any difference, she's fine stabled over night. I am keeping her eyes & face clean . But even on the wet windy day we had yesterday she had the tears all dried and stuck to her face ( no sun )Any ideas anyone ?

I would suggest a visit from the vet. Mine had a watering eye and it turned out he had conjunctivitis caused by an allergy to hemp bedding. This actually took a while to work out - three episodes of conjunctivis until vet suggested it could be allergic. Changed bedding and all fine!!

He had to have a tube shoved up his nose and a flourescent green liquid squirted up and out of the tear duct (it is all connected).

You have to be very careful with eyes.
