Just wondering is there a certain height horse you have to play on?

I've been offered a 12.2hh on permanent loan and I was wondering if I could play polocrosse on him? He's a wizzy little guy and turns on sixpence and I'm about 7.5st with hat and boots etc on?

I think he would be too small IMO - fine for kids etc. but if you were on a 12.2 and a 15.2 came the other way to try and ride you off - I know which one I would rather be riding :p

No there is no height restrictions. The A grade horses that I have played on have been 14.2hh to 15hh. The smaller the horse the less likely legs get in a tangle. Only issue you may have is meeting larger horses heads when you are riding off and such.

Thank you, I'm definatly considering as he's free perhaps just why I learn the game as I've only just started out then if I get more competitive I might look into a 14.2 :)

He sounds perfect to learn on. I learnt to play on a 14.2hh show pony then actually bought the love of my life horse who was an argentina polo pony and he only stood at 15hh. None of the top polocrosse ponies really exceed 15.2hh as the smaller ones tend to be a bit more agile. Abit scarey when you see the size of some of the blokes riding them. Which club are you going to play for ?? Good luck

Well I've been to a couple of taster sessions with the cotswold and rode this fantastic Grade A mare! There are a few people at my yard interesting in it so we are hopefully going to have one of the trainers come and give us all a lesson then if I still enjoy that (which I'm sure I will) I'll probably join the cotswold :)

You could play a 12.2 for the first season or 2, you should only be in E and D grade so there will be very few fantastic ride offs to worry about. I'd go for it! ;)
