Polypads - Opinions Please

they fit my horse well and dont slip. and i dont think that are that think. i had a prolite comfort saddlecloth that i had to replace as it had started rubbing my horses back and the polypad is nowhere near as thick and plus dont rub a saddlecloth shape on my horses back like the nearly 50 pound prolite one did!!!
 
nope I hate them too!!! TB boy came with one, far too thick on a decent fitting saddle and they just push the saddle into the wrong place, they look ugly and I hate them!!
 
They used to use them on some of the horses at my stables - the 'forma' ones. A back person visited sometime last year and was very much against the use of them.

With a well fitting saddle you will only need a thin one or no numnah at all.
 
Have to say I prefer the horseware pads to the polypads as I've found that they're not as thick and stay in place better and are also half the price. My polypad is also now used as a dog bed!!
 
I quite like them - the standard ones arent as thick as you think and they are now cut for higher withers. I have a very sensitive backed TB who is ridden in one and have never had any issues, nor does it move....

Having something like a Polypad underneath is no worse than these people who ride with sheepkin half pads under their saddles, a polypad is much thinner, softer and more flexible than the sheepskin pads I have come across...
 
dont like thek, firstly they can slip back, press down on the withers, and ive seen the come completly off and freak a horse out.

There is no way of attaching them to the saddle, and imo they are too thick, cause excess sweating and they arent breathable.
 
I dislike them tbh.

If the saddle is correctly fitted for the horse, then something that thick is used underneath, I would imagine it would be extremely uncomfortable for the horse.
It would be a bit like wearing thick fluffy socks in a pair of well fitting shoes...

*edited to add* I wonder what they'd be like under a treeless saddle? Would be interested if anyone has any opinions...
 
I don't like them and have never used them. I have seen one come off the back and fly off completely. Scared the living daylights out of te horse.
I also think they are too think

It seems like quite a mixed bag, must suit some horses and not others, but I don't think I'll go for it now! Might try out a Rambo pad though, them seem to be slightly lighter
