Stuck in the house for the past 2 years has got me thinking. Since been diagnosed with various life changing illnesses I have been thinking. My life goal is very much out of reach now that I am ill and can't work. My dream is to have a the little farm house in the country with the stables and land for the unicorns. How will I ever achieve this now ? I will not stop trying until I get to my goal but having illnesses has sure made it very difficult to figure a way of doing it. My partner is in the process of setting up a website to sell equine products. He has lost his job and now working in a Very low paid call centre which hardly covers running a car !. I have tried to train as everything possible with my conditions but now I can't work at all. There is only so much you can sell on ebay ! :-). SO anyone who has any ideas how I can get my goal a bit more achievable will be much appreciated. I am 20 and my partner 23 I know you may laugh but I do like to plan ahead to achieve what I want. I could do something from home , not sure what I am very motivated and up for anything. Bit of a pointless post but any ideas would be brilliant to keep my hopes up for the future :-). P.s don't laugh too much :-)

I know this isn't a patch on what you want but what about renting a barn on a farm? We are copurrently looking at places in the country where there is a house, an adequate school and a place to house my horse. There are plenty of barns arond to rent with land as an optional extra. We have just found a house which is reasonable to rent in a lovely village where there are plent of places to graze and a beautiful school too. Here's hoping it all goes through ok.

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having a rough time of it :( At least at 20 you still have lots of options open to you. If your illness means you're unlikely to be able to get a job then why not set up your own business (easier said than done I know!) which you can run from home. Start small, perhaps using the internet as your base and then you can grow bigger and hopefully you'll achieve your dreams with some time and hard work!
Hope it all works out for you :)

I would consider anything! even having to live in a static unit i dont care so long as i can have my peaceful life with my horses on the doorstep.
I have tried looking for anything to rent dont mind moving currently in lancashire and land is like gold dust here! .. what websites did you use?
The only bad thing is for the next 12 months up to now i have a course of treatment so have to stay within sort of 2 hours to preston.

I have done all the work for the website just had to put it on hold should be launching it soon maybe a miss but anything is worth a try. I think i just find it hard because i have always loved grafting working outdoors with horses ect..
now i have to figure a way of working from home but my age goes against me when it comes to understanding payments, taxman, paypal fees, income and outgoing and percentages for the site. well for running any business not the best person for all of that may need an accountant ha!.

:) in the next year or so my dad may be able to put a mortgage into his name and i pay him deposit ect and monthly payments but hes in a mess too his business just went bust.

If you have any websites which are good to find rental barns ect.. please let me know i try google but never seem to find anything.

I am living proof that your 'dream' is achievable. First do not call it a 'dream' as with that type of thinking that is what it will always be. I was a single mum with 2 pre nursery children and without going into old history was in the s*** both financially and mentally. I walked out with the double buggy that my kids were sat in and the clothes on our backs...nothing else, except for about £3000 worth of unpaid bills which stupidly were in my name.
Anyhow to cut a long story short I had 2 options...sink or swim. Within a year I had bought my first house...the cheapest, crappiest house available in my town at the time with 1 aim. Do it up, sell and move on. I woke up everyday with 1 thought in my head..keep going no matter what. I set up my own internet business and worked evry hour god sent, did markets, car boots, cleaning..anything to keep going. I did this for 5 years, it wont happen overnight!
4 years ago I managed to get enough money together to buy my farm house in Lincolnshire, an acre of garden, a brick built barn for stabling, 4 acres of grazing alongside the garden and in a quiet spot. When I moved in by the time solicitors and all that had been paid I had 11pence in my bank account! Did a country fair the weekend after I had moved even though i was exhausted and since then have just kept going.
It is hard work and your 'dream' needs to be a goal you work towards everyday but if you keep going it will happen i'm sure.

AHHH! i wish! that would be perfect just ashame about the price with the fella not having a plumbing job at the moment i couldnt afford it on my own. Wish that there was jobs about at the moment for him otherwise we could afford this but hes only getting £150 pw which is shocking for full time. I can never find these on rightmove what did you type in?

This is brilliant! at least i now know it can be done. my partner keeps saying to me to start small with a crappy house and do it up hes a bit of a handyman can do allsorts and i can do all the painting and interior design :). How inspirational! so glad someone in your situation could make this happen. Now i am even more motivated!

I live in Devon so there's quite a lot around down here. We just use the right move website which advertises lots of properties that go up each day. I think most of us horse peopl have the same dream as you and I do believe that it is achievable. I also have a strong belief in god and it's nice to be able to just relax an trust him n these sort of situations because I believe he knows what's best for me and my little family.

So sorry that you are ill. Life in general isn't easy and having that thrown into the mix makes life s much harder. Don't give up!

I think this is the way to go, I think I had to be so low that something kicked off in my being that I had to fight if that makes sense.
I worked as a therapist in nursing homes for the elderly before I had my children and the one thing I learnt talking to people who were coming to the end of there lives was we have 1 chance...make the most of it because it will go quicker than you think, sounds morbid but its not, it just makes you focus on what is important!

I know I dont mind being ill its just coming to terms with the fact i cant do what i wanted work wise but then again dont want to be sat on my arse living off other peoples money, think i need to get my act together stop feeling sorry for myself and sort it out. I dont have a rich family so the only way is by finding something i can do from home for now. Life is a lot harder then what i expected they dont tell you any of this when your young in school haha!. But i do have age on my side so i am glad i am ill in a way because if i wasnt i wouldnt be trying to achieve my goal now. I would probably be doing what all my mates are doing "wild parties". I have my priorities my horses and my future goal. Think its hard to stay possitive when life keeps thowing crap at you :)

Well done! That's the best attitude you can have. Never give up and never quit!!!

Just like to add that being as focused as I needed to be dosent always make you popular so be warned! I ditched several bf's that were holding me back (sounds like i had loads of bf's but you know what I mean)! Even my mum thought it was just pie in the sky...she know lives with me and enjoys being a country bumpkin!

He sounds fantastic and Im sure he will remain so...I think to be honest I am better on my own. I tend to achieve more when I only have me and my kids to think about...god I sound like a right sore trout!!
