Firstly let me say I am a member of P(UK) and my pony is registered with them. I took him to Fillongley Show on 12th August & qualified for the Kingsford and the Glyn Greenwood. I was given the qualifying card for the Kingsford but the show secretary said that P(UK) hadn't sent them one for the GG.

When I got back from the show I e-mailed P(UK) to explain and ask if they could send me the card. After several more e-mails they eventually replied and said that they would send it as soon as they had verified the results with the show secretary. Another long wait, and I e-mailed twice more to ask what was going on (didn't receive a reply to the first e-mail). They replied to say that they had been posted first class. When the cards arrived about five days later, they had sent me another qual. card for the Kingsford, plus one for the intermediate show riding type With an Exmoor?! I e-mailed them again to explain what had happened. No reply. By now it was the 8th October & entries were due to close on the 12th. After another e-mail, they told me to fax my entry to them & it would be fine, which I did last Friday (12th) as I had to wait until I got paid! I called them later on to check they had received it. They had but said they would need me to fax them the Kingsford card to prove I had qualified - even though they had sent me one a week before and had e-mails and verification from Fillongley Show. Fair enough, I said I couldn't fax it but would scan it and e-mail it to them. They said that's fine.

Now this is where I made a c**k up because I didn't do it straight away, it has been on my 'things to do' list'. Just after 3pm today I received a phone call from P(UK) to say that unless they get my Kingsford qual. card today they cannot accept my entry. I explained that I was at work but could do it as soon as I got home and would have it to them by 5.30pm. They said this wasn't good enough, the office would be closed by then, couldn't I do it now? NO - I'm at work and the manager is on holiday so I can't just disappear for over an hour, especially as I had already had my lunch break. So she said she was sorry but that was that and they would not accept my entry. I then told her that P(UK) are a pile of c**p (actual words I'm afraid) and that I will most definitely NOT be renewing my membership.

Now I know I should have sent it, but why leave it until 2 hours before they need it to call me? Plus they have all the e-mails between Tracy and myself proving I have qualified for both classes, as well as confirmation from Fillongley where I qualified. This is all due to their own c**k up with the cards, they never did send me the Glyn Greenwood one.

So I am now not going, and not re-joining. I am going to send them an e-mail to tell them how much money this will have lost them. OK my entry fees would only have been £26, but I would probably have entered the workers on the day for an extra £20. Annual membership would have been £65, plus two pony registrations £36. Total of £132, not to mention what I would have spent in entry fees at other P(UK) shows.

I'm not in showing, but I do seem to hear a lot of complaints about Ponies (UK)!! I think its utterly outrageous that by their lazy approach to sending stuff out has hampered your ability to compete your horse. I feel you should write a letter to H&H to be published and I would also write to the chairman of P(UK) as I feel you deserve an apology as they really should have a better system in place where by you do not need to fax the stupid qualifying card to prove you are eligible to go!

If it was BD, BSJA or BE they would have given you more leway I think!!

This is exactly why I don't do showing!! The societies are nothing but trouble!!!

Ponies UK do seem to be a pain and I wouldnt join them for love nor money, however have you ever tried organising any of these shows?? Its quite irritating if you are give a deadline and people ignore it.....first thing I do if I qualify for anything is send off my entry the next day.........and if I dont have the money at the time, I borrow it!!

I know what you're saying marsden but they didn't tell me that there was a deadline for sending the cards in.

Anyway Jackie from p(uk) called me yesterday and although she didn't actually apologise they have accepted my entries.
