Either are lovely courses suitable for first timers, Pontispool has a spookier ditch at the end but there's really nothing in it.

I would say West Wilts is the best first timer track.. it always seems to be very small and forgiving there

although that said, they usually have one fence that'll sort people out

Pontispool sj is done on surface, WW on grass.
I would say WW has been so far more technical than Pontispool and twister. Pontispool more of a galloping course. But as for heights and beefness i would say equal.
Ditch at pontispool did cause problems but tis in very open location just near end of course and some horses where napping back to lorry park. WW more compact than Pontispool
Depends what you like really but both good to do-IMO

Thanks everyone.
My horse is young and relatively inexperienced but thankfully doesn't mind ditches so that wouldn't put me off.
His bogey fence seems to be brush fences and took a wee bit of encouragement over the west wilts aug intro brush box fence and the owl hole, but he did jump them and went on to be placed.
