Pony and ulcers

My good doer pony has just been scoped and has ulcers. One, quite minor, squamous ulceration and a nasty big glandular one. He's got to have medication - syringed - which I'm dreading as he's not good to worm. He lives out with two others and is on sparse grass to try to control his weight. At the moment they are hayed twice a day. I'm going to ask the yard if they can have the same amount but spilt into three rations. I don't want him piling weight on and then dealing with laminitis as well. Has anyone else had a similar situation and has some good ideas to pass on?

You have the same problem as many, sadly I'm still looking for an answer, but I'm concentrating more on the weight management than ulcers. Do you know the cause of the ulcers? My vet thought as we were dealing with ulcers caused by pain, that I could worry less about the constant food supply thing.
Mine also lives out 24/7 so I opted for omeprazole injections so I never had to worry about the whole empty stomach thing, would that be an option if difficult to syringe.
We've fixed the ulcers, rest of her problems is a more difficult job.

Thanks - I share your pain and worry. He's having two different medications - both syringed - as he has ulcers in the top and lower parts of his stomach. Don't know the cause but I think it might be the sparse grazing he was on last year. He's very 'stoic' and the vet said they often carry on until they get quite a lot of pain. I always thought field kept would be less stressful!
