Any advice would be very much appreciated. I am doing my first pony club camp tomorrow with my kids and have no idea what to expect so please bear with me if some of my question are just common sense.

Do they have to wear their show jackets every day or is it just for the two days of tack and turn out can they just wear their pony club jumpers the rest of the time ?

It says about long or short boots can be worn but with short boots jodhpur clips must be worn, does that mean they cannot wear chaps ?

Is there a certain side the pony club badge must be worn on the jacket ?

It also says leather girth, but i only have the thorowgood girths so will i be marked down for this ?

Sorry for all the question but i just don't want to look a wally.

Hi :)

It varies for each Pony Club but i'll do my best to help :p

No they don't have to wear jackets every day :)
Yes they can wear chaps :)
As far as I'm aware there isn't a certain side for the badge but who knows! :o I've never been told I'm wearing it on the wrong side put it that way! :D
I highly doubt it will matter about the girth- no-one cares about that in our PC anyway :) Could always borrow one from someone if you're worried :)

Hope they have fun at camp :D

don't panic it's all good fun!! I know it seems like a nightmare to organise though...

The kids usually wear a pony club tie, shirt and (if needed) PC sweater from day to day with cream, navy or black jodhpurs. they prob have to have the show jacket just for the last day.

I think most pony clubs should certainly allow chaps, would be very surprised if not!! Def take them anyway..

I think the PC badge goes on the left usually.

Thorowgood girths will be fine.

It's a bit less strict than it sounds - i know it looks like loads of rules anad regulations but people will be happy to help esp as it's your first one. They'll have an amazing time, don't stress! good luck!!

Hey, Our PC it's ok to wear boots and chaps aslong as they are the same colour, but I think no one would notice if they weren't. Our local is pretty slack any way, especially with the younger ones :)

Sarah, If you're really uncertain you need to contact some of the experienced parents or the secretary or camp organiser for your particular PC as each one is different. Alternatively stuff everything you think can think of in the lorry and I'm sure you'll be covered for most things.

I suspect a Thorowgood girth will be fine but if not or you're especially worried what size leather girth do you need and I'll nip one over to you tomorrow at camp if I've got one near the right size.

My little pony's rider is doing camp this week and mum is panicking about whether she needs to go out and buy expensive kit etc so I know where you're coming from!

At the end of the day if it's all too pressurised change PCs at the end of the year and join ours, we're far more laid back and friendly:D

Crikey, it sounds like your branch is one of the, um, more particular ones ... leather girth???

If they haven't given you sufficient information about what is expected each day then ask. We have just had ours and the DC sent me a draft of what she was sending to parents, and we jiggled it about so they had all the info they needed, what to bring, what the children were expected to wear each day, timetable etc. I admit we do like to keep to a standard (properly dressed instructors, tack and turnout each day etc) but we are a bit more laid back when it comes to the general aura of camp, which should be about enjoying a learning experience!;) ie they only have to do 4 plaits except for the last day, only wear jackets for t&t, otherwise pc jumpers etc. Let's face it, if everyone had all the gear and the perfect pc pony it wouldn't be half so much fun :D

I agree with jemima, if it's all too much, join a friendlier branch :D

remember doing pony club as a stressed mum,had a great time, completely kn**kered but would have done it again.
Tip take a survival kit of mars bars, ear plugs, comfy shoes and asprin :D:D:D:D

Enjoy and have a great time, dont worry to much about having all spot on ,the idea is to have fun if I remember. I borrowed stuff to take.
Call them and ask,you won't be the first.

Missed a bit off that survival kit list smossy! Copious quantities of alcohol because there will be other stressed mums too. Last pc rally I went to several mums ended up raiding my (eventing) booze supplies. I've promised I'll pack ice next time . . .

At our PC, you do have to wear shirt and tie everyday, so it would be best to take them just in case.

I cant see why you wouldnt be able to wear chaps but again, take joddy clips just in case :P

I was always told girls are meant to wear their badge on the left, but I may be wrong :P

And your PC would be VERY mean to mark down if you dont have a leather girth...but if they do dont worry it's meant to be for fun afterall :)

Have a good week! :D

Trying to sound angelic lol;)

When my daughter went to Junior Camp the list of requirements and rules seemed endless. But when we got there they were much more laid back. If you are new to it all they can't expect you to have endless funds to buy everything in dull colours and we found kids with red numnahs, pink hats, coloured half chaps etc etc.
We did however come last in our group in tack and turnout which we thought was really funny!
The kids did need their jackets etc every day.

Thanks guys. Think i have covered most things, i have just put every thing i can think of in the lorry. Don't think I'd better put any alcohol in the lorry because if i start i may not want to stop :D

I shall just grab the next mum over from me in the morning and ask what i need to be doing, can't go far wrong then, well i hope :)

Don't forget:
Waterproofs
Suntan lotion
More water than you think you'll need for everyone else who forgot it in the rush
Hi Viz stuff because they always seem to tell the children when they are doing road safety but not the adults.
Spare jodphurs
GLOVES
hairnet.
Basically especially if you have a lorry load most of the tack room into it and next year you can be more selective.
Also make sure you wear comfy shoes because you will be areana party, walk the xc country course etc.

we had to wear shirt and tie, but could wear PC jumper not jacket
we were allowed half chaps as long as they were the same colour as the boots
we were allowed any girths except string girths (they had a do with someone who used one and the pony got girth galls as the kid and the instructor weren't checking properly)
PC badge goes on the left

have lots of fun, it is meant to be and usually is a complete hoot for everyone!
