Need a bit of help..
Bubs is in the PC through her riding school. A few weeks ago our search for a pony ended and we now have a lovely chap called Jim.
I now have a couple of queries.
1.Can I do an 'upgrade' now she has her own pony?
2.Jim lives in Wythall in the West Mids...about 20minutes drive from Solihull Riding Club, which branch should I choose??
Anyone on here in that area??????

I should think if you speak to someone at the pony club you choose they'll be only too happy to change the membership over.

No, changing from being a member of a PC Centre to a Branch.
At the moment she is a pc member through her riding school, but she now has her own pony so would like to join a branch.

I would think it is quite easy. Click here and find which Area you are in. The Branches in that area should then be listed. Choose the nearest - or the one with the best website! Actually, PC politics dictate you should join your 'local' Branch, but joining and swapping is more frowned upon than picking a less local Branch to begin with.

I hope you have lots of fun with Jim and Pony Club. Remember, Pony Club is what you make of it!

The one tip I would give is to find out what each Branch is like & think about what you want to do. The branch my son goes to is quite small & friendly & not wildly competitive but they still have some great teaching sessions. This suits us just fine. Even so I found it quite daunting when my son joined as all the other Mums seemed to have been riding since before they were born & I only started at 40. With some branches the emphasis is much more on serious competition & if thats not your bag it can be hard to fit in. Pick the right branch for your daughter & I'm sure she will love it.

Yeah it's easy, there is however one rule that exempts you from representing the branch at area competitions for 2 years once you have moved. However I don't know if this would affect you, it affected me as I am competing at area level but am not allowed to this year because I moved.

Also agree on checking out different branches, some specialise in certain areas. At the really large pony clubs it'll be harder to get onto the teams, if your daughter ever wanted to compete on a team you might want to look into it. Some hold trials for teams, wheras in a pony club such as mine, it's small so everyone gets to be on a team.

Not sure about switching between member/branch etc.

There PCs around West Mids. North Warwicksire, Heart of England, Athertone etc.

Good lucky to your daughter and her new pony!!

Stay where you are until settled with new pony
Telephone DC/SEC and try to visit rallies at local branches to see what sort of welcome you get and ask lots of questions
Visit camps
Once you make a decision try to stick with it--as above changing branches to get into teams is frowned upon and has penalties. You can change though if say your child wanted to do tetrathlon and your branch doesnt do it
Read the rules of PC at

Aha.. weare close to several of the area 7 branches. I didnt know that some offer different training/teams!
She is not very competetive-she is just sooo laid back! She just wants the fun and the yard we are on is very much an adult yard-I just want her to mix with people her age (5)
Thank you everyone!!
