We have approx 3 sessions of riding a day - gymkhana, show jumping, flatwork, cross x, games - spread over 4 or 5 rides of differing age and ability.
I need another session of something non-riding but fun! Any suggestions?

Apple bobbing? Who can undo and re put together a bridle the quickest. a quiz? Horsey treasure hunt? obstacle races (H&S elves look the other way!) - Foot Gymkana games etc.? Plaiting masterclass?

A midnight hike! (not necessarily at midnight, but it does have to be quite dark) On the last night so less grumpy kids?
Games where you sit in a circle, and list stuff, so the first person starts 'In my equine first aid kit I have a thermometer' and the second 'In my equine first aid kit I have a thermometer and vet wrap...' etc.

Paint the Pony? (google any of the ponies-as-therapy organisations for details on how to do it)
Treasure Hunt?
If anyone local to you drives a small cart or trap might they be persuaded to come over and do a little talk and have-a-go session (i.e. everyone gets to go round the field one in the cart as a passenger, wearing a hat of course)?

Human showjumping is quite popular with our minis - as in humans jumping the course, not each other! Also show jump limbo - but be sure the pole is ultra light. One of the bigger PC campers brought it down on them selves last year!

Depending on the age of your minis - treasure hunts? They've always gone down well. Rounds games they are used to from school like "duck duck goose". I love the earlier poster's idea about the version of vicarage cat. We also do an alphabetical round game starting with A and going around naming colours, tack or whatever. So Appaloosa, bay, chestnut etc... But miss out Q!

Something they can do quietly in the shade is always good. - how about making brow bands? You can get browband blanks from ebay and a quick video tutorial on how to wrap the ribbons. I still have the ones my daughter made at her first mini an embarrassing number of years ago!

Buy a load of cheap white t shirts and some fabric paints/pens and let them loose.[Don't forget to put a bit of card between the front and back of the shirt before starting.]
