Hi all,
Sorry if this is in the wrong place:confused:
I was just wondering if anyone had been to the pony club quiz, any expeiriences, any questions? As I am going on Saturday and wondered what to expect?:p
Thanks:)

Which one? I did the H&P care comp. way back when and it was essentially a case of memorising the PC manual and then applying some common sense! We also learnt quite a bit about the actual PC (like when it was set up, founders, big names from it, etc) and then there was a specialist round. You'll have to look on the PC website for that one!

It was really good fun, we qualified for the finals and came 5th :)

Where is it? Hartpury?

We went in 2006, word to the wise, the hall was FREEZING! Take lots of clothes. Oh, and money, or food, the only refreshments available were in a burger van outside.

It is just the same as the Regionals, learn everything, plants, country lore, animals - our team was asked, perhaps that bit was on paper, what a ewe was. Now, if you speak welsh ewe does not read like it looks, it had our girls very confused and they didn't have a clue what a you-ee was :( :)

There was an identification table with rugs, bits, shoes, grain etc on it I can remember that.

Enjoy :) Whatever the result you have done well to get there. We got a pretty rosette that is still hanging up in the basement, I see it every day which is the only reason I know what year we went ;)

Thanks! It's just a qualifier, but I've never been before and it's the first time our yard has entered a team lol.;) Not quite sure what I need to know about the countryside but hey ho:p

It's done as a table quiz with several rounds (8 plus a tie-breaker) and covers:

1. The Pony Club - things like who is the President, how many branches, history, that kind of thing, all found on the website.
2. Horse and Pony Care
3. The Countryside - trees, birds, country code etc
4. Practical Round - identifying tack, equipment, unusual items. This is split into 5 items for the younger team members and five for the older ones.
5. Equestrian Olympic and Paralympic Medallists 2012 - easy enough to research!
6. Bits, Boots and Bandages
7. Pony Prep Stables Alphabet (which is a bit like the old Blockbusters, i.e. What H is a four legged animal ridden in the Pony Club - A Horse)
8. Pictures - identifying riders from photos.

There are some quizes on the Pony Prep section of the website which you can use to practise with.

Don't forget to take a mascot with you and have fun :D

Wow Changed from my day when there was a hunting round!

i did one long time ago, probably 15 years ago. I got the horsey questions right but got both non horsey questions wrong, one was a tennis question and one was about whales. I didnt realise i had to know about non horsey things, doh! It may have changed since then though.

Lots depends on who set the questions as to how they interpret the sections...for example our team had prepared for The Countryside with lots on the countryside code, trees, wild flowers, animals, birds, poisonous plants, info on byways bridleways etc etc etc, only to find that ALL the questions in that sector were on animals, so was quite hard as they were difficult questions and we only had one member had really swatted them - what is a female mole anyone?
