i am looking for a pony for my 8 yr old neice to lern to ride on. i have been thinking about 12hh, she is very slight but of average height-but i have seen an 11.2hh pony that sounds perfect but do you think this will be too small???

my slight 7 yr old rides his 9.3hh shetland, no problem. I would have liked a 12.2 for him, but the shetland was right for us, temperament wise. In fact, I have a 10 yr old who hacks the shetland out for us too. So, no, 11.2hh won't be too small. If anything, it'll perhaps be perfect size.

While at the moment a 11.2hh pony would be the perfect size as you know kids grow up very quickly.

Would you be able to sell the pony on when your niece outgrows it, or would you keep the pony and buy another. Or keep the pony and either allow other children to ride it or break it to harness.

Only my preference but I'd be inclined to go another hand larger and look for a first ridden pony.

However if you have considered your options for when your niece outgrows the pony and this particular pony is just ideal, then yes go ahead and buy it.
