Sorry 3 threads over 3 days, you must be sick of me!! But hope you will be able to help :)

Who would you recommend for Pony/Horse insurance?
Also how many "extras" do you recommend e.g vets bills
I've been putting of insurance, as I rarely leave my yard with the exeption of the odd lesson and unaffiliated competion. But if I'm taking the pony away for a week where he will be turned out and schooling around others horses I feel I should insure him. Thanks x

forgot to mention monthly insurance would be best for us if you know of any?

I use Petplan just for vets bills, I find them reasonable and when I've made a claim they have bee great. They don't base how much vets fees they will pay out on on the value of the horse which is one of the reasons I went for them. Tigger's only worth about £500 so many wouldn't insure him for higher vets fees. Petplan his vets fees go up to £5000 which suits me.

For Public liability I am a member of World Horse Welfare and you get cover as part of the membership - you also get this with BHS Gold Membership. WHW and BHS are about £50 a year

I've just applied for insurance with KBIS, they have an offer on this month too for 15%, using code CO0710. Good price and highly recommended here.

Just changed from E&L, didn't have any problems with them (didn't claim) but pretty peeved right now as I emailed them on the 22nd to cancel my policy, requesting email confirmation of this, and hadn't heard anything. So called today and it was cancelled then, but no-one let me know!! Thank god nothing happened in the mean time *grrrrr*

IM with nfu very good have made several claims over years, very helpful and no problems.
Also daughter with AIMS they are cheaper, made claim got paid no problem
watch the first 14 days as some dont cover for kicks and some do.
shop around leave E & L alone,

We both pay on monthly payments as it just carries on, as have brain like a sieve.
With the luck I have had in passed would not risk having no insurance.
Fingers crossed no claims or vets bill for passed 2 years.

I use NFU for one of mine and Stoneways for the other. I cover for public liability, vet bills and loss of animal- I also pay monthly. I've never had to claim (touchwood!) so I can't say whether they're quick to pay up etc. I used to be with E&L a few years back but a few small things put me off them (can't remember what exactly, I just remember that they weren't that good to deal with.)
