Buddy has decided that skiing down a muddy field is exactly the right thing to do and has caused some kind of trauma to his hock which is 7 months post op.
We have had a wonderful summer, done dressage and been placed consistently, sj'ed, been to the beach, hacked and hacked. Never gave his hock a second thought
And now look!!!!
My lovely vet who was involved heavily in his op and did all his aftercare came out immediately and pronounced him 1/10th lame 'if that' and suggested we see how he responds to bute, anti b's, cold hosing and rest. Answer is two days in, very well, it is consistently decreasing and isnt as hot.
Vet thinks he has aggravated the scar tissue!!!! honestly. just one more thing to add to the list of things my 'low maintenance cob' can have wrong with him.
He is being a total star on box rest, if a little demanding!!
I have bought a magnetic hock wrap to start magnetic therapy to the area to try and get the swelling down and perhaps reduce the large amount of scar tissue. Also looking at a course of laser treatment to try and reduce the problem lump!
And I only have myself to blame. I sold a lovely but v high maintenance tb as I wanted an easy, cheap to do allrounder cob.
yeah right...
biggest princess i have ever met, lucky I love him!! Anyone got any experience of problematic scar tissue?
And anyone with a more high maintenance horse than mine!!??
Gratuitous pick of the due to be clipped hairy bear with his new licky (he played with it for 5 mins and now it is just hanging there covering everything in sticky stuff)!!!
and prancing around during 'free time'
