really need some help, our pony has become absolutley petrified of going out into her field and scared of any horse going anywhere near her.
short story is, this all started over a month ago when pony was in season, she got out of field we think she was corned and her only way out was through the fence (fence is s@@t in places) the horses in the next fields have also got into ours a couple of times!!
we have had vet out so she could see exactly what she is like in field and stable, vet precsribed sedalin and said to preservere for a week to see if she settled (no luck) pony has now been down had her overies scanned and bloods done all clear. two vets have now seen her and both think shes even been chased badly or even mounted!! which is why shes scared so badly!!
vets say to keep turning her out as shes becoming more afraid. all she wants to do is stay in her stable 24/7. when shes turned out as soon as i take her headcollar off she gallops flat out and literally hids in the hedge all day.
what do i do?????? please help x

Have you got a ménage that you could try her in with some hay? Somewhere away from the others? Hang around so she knows you're there and maybe put a radio on for her?
What a difficult situation!

we have a small riding paddock which i have put her in the last couple of days just for an hour twice a day while im there and she seems quite settled untill today when she walked under the tree and a branch touched her back, she went mad ran straight back to gate panicking!!! this is so not her!! shes a sensitive sort but not like this...

Poor girl, it could take her a very long time to get over this she is obviously extremely frightened. Is there any way of moving her, to either a different field or another yard away from where it happened.
If you cannot move, I would just take her out for walks in hand letting her graze as she goes along, start to take her into her turnout field, still on a rope giving her time to relax.
Turn her out in an arena she should feel safe there.
Is there a small friend she could spend time with that will not be too pushy, once she feels confident they could go out together.

This is difficult. It sounds as though she is scared of the horses next to her. Are you able to move her away from those horses altogether and give her a companion she can take confidence from? My pony got badly kicked by a horrible pony which had been bullied itself. We separated them and it stood there giving her the evil eye for hours on end. Fortunately I owned the land so the other pony got moved to another place. It really knocked my pony though and she will never be put in with another that I am not 100% sure she can dominate. I know this is different to your horse's situation but sometimes it is easier to move than getting her to live next door to something which scares her so much. I hope though someone can suggest a less drastic solution.

have mentioned about sectioning a bit of the field off which they werent to keen on but think i will give this a try, poor little pony has been in for weeks now just going out on her own while im there, i did try putting her best frind out with her but as soon as he walks towards her she goes crazy, but when hes in she puts her head over into his stable!! he's 33 and an absolute angel so now he hasnt hurt her!!
im looking for other yard as we speak but theres none near us :-(

This is what I would do, I would be sneaky about it.

Take her and the old boy out for grass walkies over the period of a few days and then slowly incorporate her turnout field into the walk until both ponies are happy to mooch around and eat. Then I would sneakily just unclip both their headcollars, and just stand there for a while asif you are still holding them. then let them wander off etc. Obviously you need time to do this.

This way you are convincing her that its just a noooormal thing and that her friend isn't going to hurt her and just to let her settle with you there for reassurance.

I would also buy some electric fencing so that the others can't get in.
Sounds like she has had a scare poor thing!
