Pony not eaten anything for 4 days. Help/Suggestions?

Have just done a post in NL as hopefully more people in there. If anyone has time to read and could offer help/suggestions I would be very greatful. Thanks.
 
Are you absolutely certaiin he hasn't eaten anything? Is he stabled 24/7? That would be the only way to be sure and even then, a helpful fellow livery may have tossed an armful of hay in. If you're totally sure, then what does the vet say because if a horse hasn't eaten a single mouthful in 4 days, he's already very sick and may go down with colic any time. Are his teeth ok? Is the feed off? Can he reach it? Is he being bullied and shooed away from a communal feed by another horse? Something is very wrong about this. Is it April 1st?
 
GET A VET!!! If you are 100% sure it's not eaten anything for 4 days it needs to be seen. Horse's by nature eat almost none stop 24hrs a day. Acid will be building up in his insides and he is going to be prone to colic. Is he in..not going out at all..take him out graze it in hand..is he drinking..
 
If he hasn't eaten anything for 4 days he is in danger of developing hyperlipeamia, which causes fat to be released into the bloodstream.

He needs to be admitted, this is very serious, actually life threathening.
 
Agree - horses MUST eat otherwise they get very very sick. They arent like humans, they have to trickle feed. I felt massively guilty when told a vet once that horse had been off his food for a few days and he looked at me and said 'horses dont go off their food, they eat or they are very unwell' :-(((

He thought horse had grass sickness, thankfully it seems to have been choke/colic combo but we will never know, thankfully he recovered in the end.

But dont make my mistake, I know you have had vet/dentist but the horse if still not eating (definitely not eating that is), should probably be on a drip by now....
 
Vet has seen him (been everyday tube feeding him) and completed baffled. He's going in for a scan tomoz, but heart rate. temp, pulse etc all normal as are blood test results. He's literally just grazing a few mouthfuls of grass. Awaiting results from gut fluid tomoz.
 
Just a thought but has anyone ever heard of peritonitis where the white blood cell count is within the normal range?
 
Have you checked his mouth and teeth? Most of the time this may be the cause, could he have been kicked in the face? Is there any swelling on his face ? Did the vet check his mouth when he came out?
