My elderly fit and well pony had started not finishing his night net and we found the odd piece quided on the floor. We had the dentist out on May 12th and he removed a tooth Jake struggled to eat despite Bute. The dentist came out again and said removing the first tooth had removed the support for the second so it would need to come out too. He came back on the 25th by then he had started to eat hay and was managing the grass well so we questioned whether the second removal was necessary. He repeated it was as the first tooth had removed support for the second. Subsequent to this he has been on fairly high dose bute and now 10 days later he can’t even eat grass😢 Obviously we are giving him fast fibre pony mix etc but he is loosing a lot of weight. Anyone had this happen how long was it before pony could eat?

I've got some care and gain if you want to try that? It added more weight to mine than fast fibre, also got some readigrass you can try but might be too much sugar for him? Can pop them over tomorrow if you want?

Our oldie has had teeth removed but could still eat hay..I do use Baileys meadow cobs soaked which she loves as there are no long fibres. I suspect there might be something else happening in the mouth if he s so sore he cannot eat enough to keep weight on.
