Pony on box rest for a month-advise please!

well last saturday my pony unfortuantly got kicked at our first intro by a horse with a stud in. it was on his stifle. we got him back in time with no infection which is good and the wound was quite deep. the next day i walked him in hand and the day after he was about 1 or 2 out of 10 lame. so i walked him for 2 more days.. then rode him but only in walk and then trotted him. after that he was bout 5 out of 10 lame so the vet asked us to come down for x-rays . he hasnt fractured anything but he has stress line on his petriosium? i dont no what that is or if i spelt that right if anyone could explain to me. and now he is on box rest for a month and has to go back for x-rays.
does anyone disagree ? or agree ? im just abit confused on what this all means really

If by stress line they mean a hairline crack that will mend on its own provided it isn't stressed any further, then I guess box rest then review is absolutely essential. But the ones to ask are your vets! You are the customer so don't be afraid to ask them detailed questions if you don't understand anything. I'd write a list first, then ring them or drop in or call them out. Get them to draw a diagram if it will help. The more you know about what's happening in your ned's leg, the more you can safely and expertly help him through it AND help the vets to help him too. Ask ask ask!

If the vets say box rest, then thats waht i would do, i would rather be safe than sorry, my horse had to be stuck in a box for 6 weeks at the end of 2006 and i got through it.

Poor thing. Sadly you may have done him more harm than good by riding him so soon. I hope he recovers well and speedy.
