Pony on holiday :D

after a very long season we have decided to let my pony have a well deserved holiday, not really a holiday but not going out and competing and only really hacking until late feb when il have to get him fit ready for it all to begin again does anyone else give their horses a holiday?

Al's horse has been off (as in totally off work, in a field doing nothing more than eating and chatting to his donkey friend) since the start of November, and will come back into work at the end of January (she has an op at the beginning of Jan and will have a week or two off following that to let it settle!). He has learn a lot this past year and it's been very intense for them both. The time off gives him time to relax and it also allows Al vital revision time!

But a break is good for them. He's an ex-racer and I think the time off really benefits him mentally- he learns to kick back and relax more (although he's generally a very chilled horse, he just has stressy 'things').

Ours is having 3 weeks completely off as from tomorrow as he's had a very busy year!!
