I have had a 2 year old Highland gelding at my yard now since Christmas.
In the last couple of weeks he has learned that if he paws at the fence he can eventually get it to snap or buckle way and then he can get free. Luckily the twice he has done this the horses have ended up in the garden and not on the main road.
We have the small diamond shaped plastic covered fencing like you get on school fences with a electric wire string running along the top inside facing of the fence.
We are going to put a 2nd strip of electric fencing a foot away from the main fence but he has very little respect for the electric fence either.
Has anyone got any cunning plans to try? The yard is 40 metres away from the field so by the time you cross the distance to chastise him its too late.
