So, today was our day to give pony rides down at the local fete. We've done it for about 10 years, and it's damn hard work. I've always believed the insurance was a bit of a grey area, with m covering me so long as it's not for 'hire or reward'.
This year, the organiser actually looked into insurance. Specific cover was quoted at £800, so he spoke to his event insurer, and found that we had actually been covered all along, so long as certain conditions were met; small ponies on a lead rein etc. etc.
Hope this helps any of you who are considering doing something similar, as for some of the children we see each year that little ride up the church lane means the world.
