What restrictions would there be for a adult rider ie bsja BE and unafill could i BE a 14.2 and jump adults showjumping???

I'm pretty certain you can do BE & BSJA as an adult on a 14.2hh but you have to register them as a horse instead of a pony with BSJA & any previous winnings don't count on their card, nor do any winnings as a horse count if they go back to jumping as a pony.

I'm sure you can do BSJA and BE without any restrictions. After all Stroller was only 14.2 and he won the Hickstead Derby and went to the Olympics, I'm sure the rules haven't changed that much since. I think Karen O'Connor's little 4* eventer that died this year was only 14.2 as well.

My son is taking his 14.2 into horses. You may find the distances through combinations long unless yours is particularly scopey and brave, with a turbo button! It's a pity more people don't do it, but the pony market is a very lucrative one, and a good pony commands a high price. Ours is very good - and we are keeping her because we love her, on top of all the ability.

Lucky you !
My poor daughter who was 13yr last week is 5ft 8" and we had to sell her fantastic 14.2.
We now have a super little horse but its not the same.
We don't compete with her friends as they are still on their ponies.

Yes, now that's a real shame.

Horses are a whole other kettle of fish and although no midget, I am lucky he hasn't outgrown her

I have always thought that if it's humanly possible (and often it isn't

) you are better to keep them in ponies until they are 16. Many don't make the changeover, because horses are so completely different, not just bigger.

Don't worry, bet quite a few will be on horses soon. My daughter's 15 and out of her pony club chums, only one is still on a pony.

We decided to make the move sooner rather than later as she had taken the pony as far as he could go and didn't seem any point getting another. Also in Pony Club most courses are set to a horse stride, so it makes sense.

my best mate sjs 7 14.2's and i dont know what shell do, shell probs keep them up to seniors, until she is too big.. i dont know

but im going to jump my 14.2, and she 17, im a bit too tall for her, but need to be to stop :P im 15 now, but i am going to get a horse hopefully after next year but pony will not be sold (ready for my sister) so i should be ok... nothing will replace her though

I am 13 and ride a 14.2 at the mo - he's great, but am moving onto a 16hh (has high withers) in January. All my friends are now onto horses - I still love the ponies though! I am 5ft 4'' but not very light!
I am sure you can do the same stuff with your pony but as brightinsel said be careful with combinations and striding around the courses. Have fun!

I jump my 14h as a horse up to 1.20m opens. They carry their winnings over, as my pony was a JA he could only compete in the open classes. I also have a 16.3 that I compete, so having pony to jump is so much fun after the serious horse stuff!

I don't know much about BE. Stoller was 14.3 so these days would have to register as a horse anyway and would be able to jump any class. You can jump a pony BN, Disc, New, but after that it is just opens.
