For those of you adults on 148cm ponies - what size saddle should I be looking for? Obviously will seek to get him properly measured/fitted but general advice on sizing would be appreciated.

you probably won't be able to go beyond a 16.5" saddle - but you can get an adult version and a child version of a 16.5". THe adult version has larger flaps so your leg doesn't hang over and it allows you to shorten up to jump position.

Mine has a 17 inch and a lot of showjumping friends of mine hae 17.5 inch saddles, they are all fitted by saddlers and are fine!

You can get a 16.5 tree with a 17 inch seat without compromising fit or feel.

Ideal manufacture them for adults on ponies.

Saddle Co also do a perfectly good adult pony saddle however i did feel that the flaps came up a little on the large side in the adult version for a smaller pony.

I am a 5ft 5" adult and I ride a 14.2 part bred arab.

I had my saddle made to measure last year at oakfield. I have a 16.5", the saddler said I could go up to a 17" max but as my bum fit in a 16.5" one I went for that.

As it was made to measure he also put slightly longer than normal flaps on for me, to suit both my legs and my mare's deep body.

All at a very good price.
