A friend of mine lives in Chelmsford Essex and is looking for a pony for her 2 girls to share, please could someone suggest web pages to look at? Im in Cambridge and can find loads of ponies in this area but nothing for Chelmsford, there must be something in that area.

Ideas welcome please.

You can place both wanted ad on these websites too (but most charge)

Equine adverts, often quite a few here http://www.equineadverts.co.uk/index.php?cityid=-1&lang=en&search=essex&catid=16&view=ads
Preloved (you'll need to free regester to find regional ads)
Horsemart loan section
Friday ad have a section

Also, check local yards, rs websites, as they sometimes advertise their own horses on there.

Put up wanted ads in tack shops and feed merchants, print out your number/email several times on the bottom so people can tear one off.
Also, facebook pages of yards, and also pages the cover the local equestrian area.

Research the local yards in your area. Some people may not like this idea, but use google maps to find them (anything that resembles an arena, and you'll usually find fields with horse shadows in etc!) See if they have an office, and you can put an ad up on, or email them to see if their liveries have any horses that they might not have put on a website.

If all else fails (although something will eventually turn up!) perhaps try "volunteering" on yards, as they will also learn about stable managment, and will usually offer you free rides/lessons.

Try to make the ad sound as sensible as possible (especially as there are so many stupid ads from teenage girls around!), and don't boast unless they ask you in detail about experience.

Phewww, sorry, i've gone on a bit

Lovely, and thank you for the useful reply. I am on facebook and have lots of local horsey pages of my area Cambridge, but can't find any for Chelmsford area.

I will check the websites you have suggested.

My friend also rides, so its not a case of leaving them at a yard to learn and get free rides, she is happy to pay for a share in a pony, both girls are 9, and eager to learn, just thought there would be people out there with ponies that they have kept that need a small jockey to ride a couple of times a week, and willing to pay towards costs.

Ill keep a look out.
