I was veggie for 7 years, never wore new leather etc but got very poorly and now have to eat meat. My logic is you can't eat one animal but be anti eating others because they're cuter....I'm all for humane treatment/slaughter but I would eat horse/kangaroo or anything else. Some countries have to eat animals we class as cute pets because theres not a lot else would survive there.

Got to agree with OP, I realise other countries eat horse/dog/guinea pig, but that doesn't mean I don't find the idea of eating or wearing an animal that I class as a pet pretty revolting!

Suppose I'd class cows and pigs as pets so doesn't help....What annoys me more however is children who don't know where meat comes from. I was always made aware but I know children who think chickens come from Sainsburys.

I think though that if you are prepared to wear and eat one kind of animal then you should be prepared (or at least not repulsed/shocked) to eat another, be it horse, dog, pig etc.

Personally I could not buy those shoes/handbag etc. But that's because they are utterly hideous, nothing to do with the pony skin!

oh yeah im not saying its wrong not my personal choice though
as i said just the way theyve put pony skin as if its more appealing iv never seen it stated like that before

i only searched pony to find some cute t-shirts!

I'm not sure if pony skin refers to the feel of the fabric rather than what it is actually made from.....

I remember reading a few years ago that pony skin isn't actually pony skin if that makes sense?

This seems to back it up http://www.ambassador-textiles.co.uk/list.php?category=ponyskin

I could be wrong of course but I think it refers to the feel of the fabirc rather than the origin.
