Sorry for another question, our exmoor yearling has developed a really bad habit, when I go anywhere near her she goes straight for the 'treat pocket', I have stopped giving her treats over the last couple of weeks but she still frantically searches for them, almost to the point of pulling the pocket off my old stable jacket or nipping at my arms/hands, I just give her a tap on the nose but my hubby (who is scared of them at the best of times) really hates helping me out in the stable now because of this.
Can anyone offer any suggestions please, I thought about replacing the treats with something foul tasting??

Keep at it. Don't tit bit him by hand...ever!

For older horses a water gun sprayed at the muzzle when they nip usually works, but with him being so young TBH i wouldnt try that.

Ours bit really badly when we got him, it's taken us 4 months to get him out of it and now we've re introduced treats, but ONLY when we're teaching him something. He only ever gets them as a reward for doing very well. And then the treat is put on the floor for him.

I have taught my horse that he only gets treats when he looks away from me. I used clicker training. It does work.

That's just what I was going to suggest, using CT. My horses are clicker trained and never ever mug for treats, they know the rules.
