Now that the Needle Lady has been to see the Spooky Pony, he's supposed to spend up to 15 mins/day with his right fore in a tub of antiseptic solution.

Yesterday's first attempt saw him spook backwards (breaking the baler twine as usual) and knock over the bucket. For the second attempt, I had someone else hold him for a moment while I operated the bucket, so they could follow a bit when he backed up, and that worked: he was standing still for about 10 mins, licking his mineral block with me holding on to him.

That plan also worked today, substituting hand-feeding hay for the mineral lick. Again, he'd clearly had enough after about 10 mins.

PROBLEM: by the time we get him to stand still, he's well away from the tie ring and his haynet, meaning I can't do anything else while he's standing there. Should I just resign myself to standing there holding him? Does anyone have any brilliant ideas how I can get him to accept the bucket just 1m closer to the wall?

And how do I get those extra 5 mins from him?

Good luck with that one, I do wonder if vets have ever owned a horse.

When the vet came to my boys swollen leg, she recommended box rest, when I said he would not have that at all, she just said tough.

He would have done more damage on box rest as gets SOOOOO streased.

Fingers crossed for you, I had no choice to ignore that and he was better less than 48hrs later.

Sometimes their advice is so unrealistic
