Pony unhappy having girth done up

Pony is typical round cobby type who blows out when girthing up, however has recently started swishing tail and fidgeting when doing girth up. No girth galls/sores, recently had saddle checked and all ok. Any ideas what else it could be making her so unhappy?

It could be anything, ulcers, lameness, girth pinching, muscle tightness. Definitely worth getting the vet out and discussing with them.

My mare gets uncomfortable when she's in season (and before hand) and is less happy about the girth.

I had a good feel this morning and she has lots and lots of hair under there (very hairy trad cob) which she didn’t like me pulling so I wonder if it’s getting caught and perhaps a little bib clip might help
