pony weight

how much would everyone say roughly a 12.2 quite finely built welsh section B should weigh, my daughters pony is out on loan and after visiting him he looks grossly overweight and i'm now concerned that he's lucky not to have laminitis but need to know what weight is reasonable to suggest they get him down to. I'm sure when he was at home he weighed about 260/270kg but looking for other peoples opinions. Thanks

I'm not sure what the ideal weight would be in terms of kg, but how about giving them a copy of this:

and explain what body score you would like him kept in...they might not realise the potential risks of obesity. I certainly have a bit of a battle of the bulge with one of mine!

Thank you that's a really nice version of the body score chart I know that battle lol my daughters pony looks at nice grass and the weight piles on if im not careful. I'd definitely say looking at that chart that he's obese. I thought they'd be more careful as their friends horse who's in the same field has laminitis, they keep saying he's really fat but not doing anything about it and I'm starting to get frustrated as the pony was nice and slim and fit. Hopefully things improve soon
