My mare has a really itchy belly, along her mid line. I can’t see any skin irritation or visible cause for the itchy ness. The flies have really died down the last couple of weeks so I don’t think it’s fly bites.
Any ideas on what it could be and what I could do to relieve it?

I had an article about this open on my computer for ages, but I've lost it, it's like sweet itch but on the midline, one of my girls has it.

This is not the article I originally read, but it mentions most of the same things

One of my mares got an itchy belly when she was heavily in foal, she would rub it on bales of straw. Could he/she have a bit of low grade colic ?

One of the itchiest places for mine with sweet itch. I'd give the midline a coat of neem or one of the sweet itch creams like the bite back one.
