My friends old pony has got lice. She has treated him with lice powder but he still has them but not as many has he had. I know you can use frontline on there legs for mites but can you use it for lice?
Also ive been told there is an injection thet treats for lice and also worms  ive not heard of that before is it true. Thanks

Cooper Fly replenent - read the instructions as very strong but it works for lice as well as flies !

An old pony on our yard was discovered to have lice this week. The Owner has given him a really good bath mainly to loosen the last of his winter coat and to make him feel a bit better. Then 24 hours later she treated him with coopers fly repelent. This seems to have done the trick as today we could see dead lice on the surface of his coat, so tomorrow she's going to give him a really good brush. You do have to re-treat after 2 weeks to make sure that any hangers on and hatched eggs are killed and we've all been thoroughly checking our horses and ponies to make sure he hasn't passed any on!

Thats the trouble with lice. They tend to target the weak and old, dragging them down further.
Coopers fly repellent is (IMO) the best thing you can use, but you must coat every last square inch of him. Then repeat two weeks later. Then just to catch any that might have slipped the next, I treat again one week after that.
You can get the vet to give an ivermectin injection, but you will get the same result with the coopers for a fraction of the cost!!!
Worming at the same time with an ivermectin based wormer is fairly effective too.
