The neds were out as usual last night. I put their hay in the larger north facing field shelter, which becomes a cosy refuge when a strong southerly wind is blowing.

I didn't have to wheel my barrow very far this morning to find the majority of their poos - 14 piles between 3 neds. Makes my life easier :D.

B Fuzzy would be aghast! Her 2 most favoured field shelters are bedded down. She's such a clean mare to do, all droppings will be right at the back all dead centre of the back wall, just as they are if she's stabled ? I think she'd prefer thick curtains to twitch too ?

Well done your lot for keeping things easier for you ?

Oh heck, TFF, I won't tell them that B Fuzzy gets her shelters bedded down - they'd be demanding that I do the same for them :D! They do have rubber matting, though.

Funnily enough they are fairly clean in their stables, but they poop anywhere and everywhere in their shelters.

I dont bed the portable one ?
The big one has a deep straw nest in it, the smaller one actually has Aubiose in, as I've not had her stabled more than 6 nights since last summer (and not 1 night yet this year) so was ambivalent about using the planned November bedding lol, but both will be in tonight as it's just vile out till early hours tomorrow herel

Wish mine were so tidy. Mine appear to have utilised every corner of the field, not to mention the middle. The only place there WEREN'T any poos was the shelter! Mind you, the shelter is at the top of the hill and the bottom is out of the wind.

It's as wet and miserable here now as it looks in this pic taken earlier this morning. The one who is lowest in the pecking order gets the hay placed under the overhang, while the other two bag the inside of the shelter.

There's often some musical hay piles going on while the bossy bay IDx bustles everyone around to check that they aren't getting anything that she would prefer, so this is the safest way to put the hay down.
