Pony is on box rest just now, on soaked hay and tiny tiny amount of Fast Fibre for his supplements and Danilon (half a sachet morning and night). Came in from the field at beginning of the week with raging digital pulses and sore fronts. This morning, there's liquid poo all down his legs. All the poos in the stable are fine, not runny at all, but he's got the liquid stuff in his tail, leathers and right down the inside of his legs. Someone at the yard said the soaked hay must be upsetting him. I'm soaking for 12 hours and making sure it's very well rinsed, and throwing out stuff left in the net when I change nets morning and night. What could be causing this?

He's been off the grass since beginning of week and been having Happy Tummy each day in his feed. His poos were a bit soft and green when iut at grass but have firmed up and changed colour since coming off the grass. Just this liquid stuff also now running down his legs

I also feed yea sacc as well, that probably helps! Do you feed your soaked hay when it is still very wet as I found this sometimes made my boy a bit runny.

Maybe try offering bicarb in the water - and as others have said a good probiotic.

This happens to my cob at this time of the year and that works well - we get a paste in a syringe to use from the vet - can't remember the name sorry.

Have ordered some yea sacc and will ask the vet when she's here on monday about the stuff you can get in a syringe. It's just quite odd, as his poos were green and a bit soft at grass a week ago and he'd been having happy tummy. Came down with laminitis (caught early thankfully) so has been off the grass all week and the problem just started yesterday. Poos in stable fine, but in between has liquid poo pouring down his legs. Strange that he's also producing normal poos too. Only time I've seen anything like this with him was the first few times he went in a trailer and was very stressed. Perhaps he's stressed at being stabled as he's usually out 24/7, although he's happy to go back in after mucking out, and isn't showing any other signs of stress. Something's upsetting him so I'll try probiotic etc to see if they help. Thanks everyone for the advice
