Took my horse into vets last night with impacted colic. He was tubed twice on Saturday and things looked better Sunday morning but then stopped moving again. Another two tubings didn't help so decided to take him in so he could be closely monitored. They tubed him again last night and gave him liquid paraffin as a marker which hasn't come through after two more tubings today.
Not showing distress or pain, just fairly quiet gut and no poo ☹️

I hope he has improved today and there has been some movement. It must be very worrying for you. Do they have any idea what is causing the impaction? Fingers crossed for you. xx

I do hope that he is improving, I remember being very worried about my mare when she had to be tubed for an impaction. Fortunately, she recovered, after 36 hours, although not before a 2nd vet had been feeling inside her, she wasn't impressed with that!
Poo vibes on their way!

He's staying in for a second night. Has managed 2 lots of poo, the last of which looks like it has traces of liquid paraffin in so all fingers crossed that we now have movement.
He's looking perky and not very impressed with being violated at both ends for the last 3 days.

Not much change since last night. A few small bit of poo over night which are very hard and dry still. Rectal exam this morning removed more from the hind gut and there are more to come in the small intestine, it's just not moving through as quickly as it should though on its own. The liquid paraffin still hasn't come through yet either.
They are increasing the frequency of tubing and he's still on the drip so getting plenty of fluids going through.
He doesn't seem bothered by it and no signs of pain which hopefully is a good sign.
