Pooing a lot - test for ulcers/acid...

Does anyone know if you can do a test for acid tummy / ulcers. My friends horsie has runny poos a lot and is nervy and hyper, we are starting to wonder if its something more than just the feed he is getting.

I have suggested colligone to her but just wanted to know how the vet would search for such a thing - would it be tube in to the gut?

The definitive test would be a gastroscope. They would probably want to test the poo first as it is a lot less invasive and a lot cheaper!
