Why do some people insist on breaking in babies? I have been browsing ads today (as you do!) and found two quite local to me.

One is 16 months old and advertised as broken in, although there are no pics to prove it, just one of him in a headcollar.

The second is 2 years old, broken in and ridden. Pic is of horse in tack with someone on his back standing in what appears to be a housing estate.

Do these people think that by advertising them as broken in they will sell them easier? The trouble is with these ads is that the ponies are very cheap, which means people with no idea may well buy them and continue to ride the poor little things.

Rant over!

some times skinny horses are offered for loads of money so people will take pity and pay the cash , some people are just stupid and cruel and couldnt care less im afraid x

I think I will have to sell my rising 2 year old next year. She is so well grown I am really worried someone will buy her and try to back her straightaway, (obviously I will be careful who I sell her to but once she is sold there isn't much you can do)Why don't people realise they need time to grow into their brains as well as their bodies.

Sometimes if you complain to the site they will take the adds off. I have been responsible for having a few removed. Dragon Driving is the worst as its used by the travellers. Makes me so angry when people rush horses, theres our 3yr old enjoying himself in the field and will not be backed until next year.

i have often softly sat on the huge 2 years olds but not worked them! all the time the TB industry is racing 2 year olds and 3 yo's you will get people doing them young! there is a huge difference between working and sat on and trundled around! Pykey cobs have been sat upon since 6 to 12 months and are some of the best natured and mannered ones around.

Because the racehorse industry does it doesnt make it right. Ive seen travellers "riding" these young horses, i live surrounded by travellers horses on every corner, but just because someone else does it that doesnt mean its right.
Some people force dogs to fight, that doesnt mean we should all do it.
Some people still use "swinging" tying unhandled horses to a solid object sometimes for a couple of days, apparently to teach them not to pull on the rope, maybe we should all try it?
