I have one very sorry 11 month old to look after at the moment. She came in from the field yesterday with a puncture wound/deep cut to her near hock, which I believe is due to her normally placid field mate kicking out, and there was plenty of the red stuff. She wasn't terribly lame and was more than happy for me to clean it out but it would need the vet so out he came. Hopefully she has been a lucky girl as the wound is to the bone, but very clean (fingers crossed as no chips we think), and as she's not to lame we may have a good chance at a good recovery. Now all I have to do is keep out infection and persuade a lively baby that she has to chill out in her stable. I just praying that she will start feling better after a few days not worse, at least that way I know the bone has not been affected.
She lay down last night, with a full leg bandage on, she needed a little help to get up, bless her.
She appears to have no idea that she injured, still a bouncy baby who would like to climb out of her stable....
