Poor Beastie and a Shooting Report

Poor Beastie fell earlier

She jumped off a wall that was higher than she had anticipated and sort of collapsed on landing, her front legs went down and she hit her chin. Got up shook herself off and seemed fine.
Was a bit lame on her front right in the house, but that went away but now everytime she gets up after lying down, if even only for a few seconds her back end is really bad and v.lame but once walking around for a while she's grand. Think she's quite stiff?


And for a shooting report, only just got southern permit on Monday so today was spent driving round to find the game! Only spent an hour shooting. Took Cindy, too long a day for our Tinadog she'll only be doing local, easy shooting from now on.
Cindy was a bit unsettled to begin with and broke, she knew she had done bad though as she practically crawled back on her stomach. Going to try her with the whistle as she's working too far away to hear you call to her. After the initial breaking she did really well, some lovely retrieves and well presented to hand

Got 40 pigeons altogether

Only real problem was friends lab Chisel who has taken to chewing on the birds

But what a good dog, Cindy was! Went in same puppyclass as a man who trained his retriever with a whistle. On exam day, he showed us a little...
We just stood there going Oh! and Ah!

I am really surprised you haven't been using the whistle before voice. I can't remember how old Cindy is, but if you are rough shooting I am guessing you must have your left, right and back to send onto a blind. I always blow a stop whistle so that they stop to look at me for hand directions - couldn't do it by calling! But very glad you had a lovely day.

I was out today too at a shoot I don't go to very much, but as we had copious amounts of Raspberry Vodka and Champagne - I am going to put my name down to go more often next season!!!

Poor Beastie - hope she feels a bit better tomorrow.
