So, the poor boy has been neglected this week :( Mother is in hospital with blood clots on the lungs and Im such a bad mum Ive left the boy out and not done anything with him as I have been backwards and forwards to the hospital all week and seeing to my house and hers and had to work. Result.....he comes in like an untrained tank this morning! Day off tomorrow so get back on the work with him and give him something to think about.

On another note my WB boy looks like an overgrown New Forest pony in the winter.....a friend at the yard checked on him last night for me as we had to rush down to the hospital and has the cheek to say Princey wasnt in the field but there was an overgrown EXMOOR in a blue rug. Nothing wrong with Exmoors but he looks like an overgrown NF pony, not an exmoor.

going a bit mad and really can do without bitchy comments so if you got nothing constructive to say then dont say it :(

As long as they are not suffering, cant see a problem! Hope your mum gets better soon.

Hehe. my boys a weird one. He prefers to be out but if hes out for too long at a time he likes to come in for a rest and its due to pour today and he HATES the rain so I thought Id bring him in. Also the field is disgusting in places as his fieldmate cuts it up bigtime :(

Thank you. I hope she gets better soon too :( they wont even let her stand up unless its to get in a wheelchair :(

I must say, when human health is involved, horses really will be just fine until it's sorted. You may feel guilty but don't.

Why on earth would anyone post something snarky on this? Hope your mom has a good recovery.

Terri

My pony is the same. My friend looked after him for me on Tuesday and Wednesday as I was away with work. She couldnt catch him both days so left him be (24/7 turn out)

He raced over to me to come in on Thursday but was bolshy and would not let me pick out his back feet. So same here, lots of groundwork followed by a long hack on Saturday :P

Fingers crossed your mum makes a speedy recovery. Dont worry about your horses, they will be absolutely fine xx

It was more getting stuff off my chest and I know what some people can be like on here. I just couldnt be doing with all the people who would be going on about what i should be doing now and how i should be doing it and how my horse needs this and that. lol.

Thank you for all the kind words about mum too. its a hard time.

I had the same as your Mum this time last year plus collapsing with a heart attack as a result. She will be fragile for a bit, it's a shock to the system to say the least. I hope she doesn't react to the warfarin like I did because that was a big factor in slowing down recovery. However, like me, if she does as she is told then she will be fine... as will the horses!

Yeah I had the task of explaining to my 16 year old niece what COULD happen as she said "oh its only clots so thats okay". She was a bit shocked to hear what it can cause! I have heard stories about people reacting to warfarin so im hoping she doesnt. She has been having injections (I thought it would be heparin but she doesnt think its that) and she looks completely wiped out. Have no idea how long she'll be in hospital for, they said at least over the weekend but she only starts the Warfarin today (6mg big dose?) so guess it may be longer.

Luckily at the yard there are a load of good people who will check on him if i need too. My only concern is hes young, can be bolshy and if you dont know how to handle him or he thinks he can get one over on you he's a nightmare! Theres a guy down there who's daughter has a pony on loan. He does not know a lot about horses but prince is a real star with him! When he had his nose bleeding and wouldnt let me near him, he let this guy catch him and lead him up no problem!

!

6mg is NOTHING lol. I am on between 10 and 15mg because it refuses to stabilise. For the first few months it made me extremely nauseous.. would be ok for a couple of days and then back to nausea and sometimes sickness as well, but I have been told that is an an unusual reaction. Also suggest she carries a pack of elastoplast at all times as even a minor cut can be fairly spectacular!

Hope she feels better soon.

Okay that makes me feel a bit better that 6mg is nothing! She seemed to think it was a lot but she never asks questions of the doctors and the doctors had "gone home" when I arrived last night after work. So sorry to hear about the problems you had with it :(
