Few vibes or even better some carrots but Farra has an abscess.

Hopefully it won't get worse, but at least we have got the root of her lameness. She had an abscess in the bulb of her heel. It has burst but no sign of it on her feather, and she is now in a tiny roped off bit of the field with it dressed and having anti-bs. She was happily stuffing herself on half a bale of hay when I left.

Vet is back out next Wednesday to see how it is doing as it is fairly deep.

She was such a good girl whilst being nerve blocked in the foot and it was only when we clipped out the bottom of her leg we found it. She never flinched when she had the area pressed, hence I had no idea she had one and I feel rather bad at not finding it as no sign of heat or swelling or localised pain and she bore weight on the foot.

Bought some sad memories back seeing the vet injecting her - it was only a year ago we lost Cairo and these big horses seem so vunerable when not right.

Stinky is staying beside her little area, had to put his hay right next to the rope so he thinks he is sharing the same pile of hay before he would eat - he really does love his big sister.

At least you've got to the bottom of it. I know all too well how the traditional types hide their pain.

Here's hoping she's already well on the way to recovery.

Positive vibes for you and Farra.
You are doing everything you can and I am sure she will be fine with your good nursing.

I have a clydey x and when they are ill, they seem extra pathetic and vulnerable.

Hope she is on all 4s ASAP.

Chunks are generally such stoic chaps. I knew a horse who has never sick or sorry in his life then one day he went lame and never worked again, although he did come field sound. Should bounce back from an absess easilly though, just such a pig!

Sending you some get well vibes for Farra, Theresa x
I hope she is soon on the mend and not in too much pain

Hope farra recovers quickly - keep hot tubbing and poulticing and I am sure with the anti-biotics she will be fine soon.
